We're Here!

Day One has gone off without a hitch! We all arrived around lunch ready to rumble (albeit a little bit groggy!) We went to the house to settle in and of course meet the famous Mamma Rea (leader of SOPUDEP and our host)! The family has been so excited, making us feel welcome and right at home. And we were suprised by the recent engagement of Tamera (Rea's daughter)! So we were able to help the family prepare cookies for the big celebration tomorrow which we are SO excited for! Afterwards we went to see the progress at the new SOPUDEP, which is beyond amazing! Pictured above is the current school, which now spans four floors and several functioning classrooms! We then had an amazing dinner cooked by the family and sat down to a long talk with Rea and T-Paul to discuss the current situation in Haiti. We're looking forward to all the adventures tomorrow will bring and are so excited to finally be here! Peace, love, and SOPUDEP!
