Day Trois!
Day three is done! We had quite the eventful day, starting off by making some amazing pancakes (well mostly Ya'el making them and us watching). We then began with a morning of hard work at the new SOPUDEP site. We worked for several hours (with a few water breaks of course!) moving some of the new gravel into one of the rooms for cementing that will be done later in the week. Afterwards we wiped up (as best as one can with a few hundred baby wipes!) and headed off for MABE. MABE is an orphanage in Petionville that houses about 26 children. The orphanage is run by Rea's good friend Marquoel and his sister and has been a stop for our Haiti groups for years. MABE recieves a majority of its funding from small church groups in the United States, but we we're sadly informed that one of the other church donors recently had to pull out. We brought several toys to the ophanage donated by friends and family (shout out to Mamma C and Maddie Gavin!) and all chipped in to buy the kids some snacks and supplies for the week! Rea also generously donated some of the leftover sweets from the engagement party (which was a huge hit with the kids of course!). We then came home for a delicious dinner of chicken, rice, spiced vegetables and beans. We are now winding down for the night with some reflections and journaling, and as always excited to start the next day of our journey!
